Antique Radio

Dimash Qudaibergen’s music has touched the hearts of fans across the globe, but for his songs to make their way onto the airwaves, it takes the passion and dedication of his devoted Dears.

In Belgium, two such energetic Dears, Wendy and Heidi took matters into their own hands, working tirelessly to get Dimash’s songs played on multiple radio stations in a record time of just 45 days so far.

Here’s how they did it – and how you can too!

The power of requests

Wendy and Heidi knew that the key to getting Dimash’s music on the radio was simple – requests. In Belgium, radio stations often give listeners the chance to request their favorite songs through text messages, online forms, or phone calls. Wendy and Heidi started by identifying which stations offered these request options and then set to work.

Nostalgie Belgique, Radio Stars, and Mcsŕadio-Aywaille were among the stations they targeted. Our Dears successfully requested Dimash’s song “Love’s Not Over Yet” to be played on these stations by sending text messages and, in some cases, calling in or using Facebook pages to make the request.

Generations Tubes, a web radio station, was another key platform. Initially, Dimash’s songs weren’t on the station’s playlist, but our Belgian Dears were determined. They reached out to the station and requested that they add Dimash’s music to their list. As a result, they were able to get Dimash’s songs, including “Love’s Not Over Yet,” played live on Radio Bonheur and AFM Radio, both part of the Generations Tubes network.

The Dears joined the mission by requesting songs through online forms on various radio station websites. Through perseverance and strategic song selection, the Belgian Dears managed to get “Love’s Not Over Yet” played on Gold FM.

Know your stations and DJs

To maximize their chances of getting Dimash on air, Wendy and Heidi did their homework. They carefully researched radio stations across Flanders and even the Netherlands, focusing on those with live DJ shows and request programs.

Here's their strategy:

This approach allowed them to request Dimash’s songs on stations, and more, leading to a growing presence on Belgium’s airwaves.

Don’t think that they succeeded every time. They sent messages that went unanswered and received rejections as well. Naturally, many radio stations have their own playlists and stick to their programming. But this didn’t discourage them, and it shouldn’t discourage anyone.

The word ‘NO’ exists, and it’s just as important as ‘YES.’

Persistence pays off

The process of getting Dimash’s songs on the radio wasn’t always instant. Wendy and Heidi found that sometimes they had to wait through an entire program before hearing their request, but they didn’t give up. They continued making requests and adapting their strategy as needed.

Additionally, they made sure to send emails with Dimash’s biography to radio stations like Radio 2, hoping that this personal touch would help gain approval for more airplay.

Spread the word and get others involved

Wendy and Heidi’s efforts showcase what’s possible when you’re driven by a passion to support your favorite artist. They didn’t stop after getting one song played, they pushed on, securing airplay for Dimash’s music on AFM Radio, Générations Tubes, Radio Bonheur Belgique, Sonido Radio NL, Webradio Booischot, Webradio Waasland, Radio Nostalgie, CM Radio NL, Mcsŕadio-Aywaille Radio, Radio Gompel  and Radio Gold FM.

The key to their success? Persistence. The more you request, the more likely you are to get results.

As they continue their efforts, Wendy and Heidi didn’t keep their success to themselves. They shared their methods with us, explaining how they could find the right stations, request songs through online forms, and build relationships with DJs and radio staff to get Dimash’s music played.

We shared their methods with you.

Keep going and never give up!
